The Spore Prints: In 2004 we had good, late rainfall. There was an explosion of mushrooms of all kinds. They grew up outside the studio and in the garden at home. At the farm there was a pocket of indigeneous woodland where they appeared as if from nowhere in every shape and colour; collared earth stars, oysters mushrooms, bracket fungi, field mushrooms and toadstools. I began to collect their spore prints. After six weeks of frenzied work collecting and photographing the delicate, ephemeral prints I had a collection of weirdly beautiful images.
